Ondra-Huyett Associates Receives Excellence in Construction Awards From Associated Builders and Contractors
Ondra-Huyett Associates’ work on two area projects earn an Excellence in Construction® Eagle Award from Associated Builders and Contractors Eastern PA Chapter. New Tripoli Bank in Upper Macungie Township and TierPoint Valley Forge were the selected winners in their respective categories.
TierPoint once again partnered with Ondra-Huyett Associates, Inc. for their Valley Forge, PA facility. When TierPoint saw the need for additional Disaster Recovery space as well as additional data center space, Ondra-Huyett received the call. Ondra-Huyett was brought on early in the planning stages to assist with design, budgeting and scheduling to help ensure all sequencing and delivery goals were met.
Phase I consisted of extensive renovations to the existing 28,000 square foot Disaster Recover suite on the lower level.Phase II consisted of the conversion of an existing 9,500 square foot Disaster Recovery / Office area on the main level into a state of the art data center.
New Tripoli Bank-
Ondra-Huyett Associates, Inc. was contracted to construct a new 15,468 SF banking and financial building for New Tripoli Bank at their recently acquired Buckeye Road property located in Emmaus/Upper Milford Township, Pa. The bank exclusively chose to work with OHA based on the experiences of two previous renovation projects at their Clausville and the New Tripoli, Pa. locations, knowing that OHA’s corporate values align with that of the banks. OHA was brought in early on in the process, preparing the design RFP, and providing other pre-construction services including budgeting and constructability reviews.
The biggest challenge to the project was the weather. With over 64 inches of rain, third most in history for the Lehigh Valley, the project experienced 35 lost man days during the project, specifically due to rain along with the after affects that resulted after each rain event ceased. Dewatering and/or pumping out of the basement and/or trenches was almost a daily occurrence in the spring and early summer up until the roof was dried in. The on-site fill had to be spread out and mixed with imported aggregate in order to meet compaction requirements and to keep on schedule.
The Excellence in Construction awards program is the industry’s leading competition that honors both general and specialty contractors for innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects. A panel of industry experts served as the competition’s judges.
These awards mark over 25 earned by Ondra-Huyett Associates from ABC Eastern PA Chapter.
