The opportunity to renovate the John & Dorothy Morgan Cancer Center was the result of many successful construction projects on the Lehigh Valley Hospital campus over the years. This commercial construction project is a testament to our ability to work collaboratively with the owner, staff, design team, and trade contractors to meet every objective and state approval, which are all necessary on a mission-critical project.
LVHN CANCER CENTER
The project involved a multi-phase renovation of the Cancer Center. Work was to be completed next to a wing housing patients with little or no resistance to infection and required that our teams pay exceptional attention to cleanliness and dust protection during construction.
The work area included more than 40,000 square foot of occupied space on the first and fourth floors, and mandated workable phasing plans. Due to a large volume of patients, infusion bays at the cancer center could not be reduced below 10, with all mechanical systems to remain in-tact. The prescribed multi -phase approach required individual local and PA Department of Health and Infectious Control Risk Assessment approvals, the adherence of strict shutdown procedures, and coordination with facilities personnel on materials delivery and debris removal. The project received final PA Department of Health approvals on time with the various phases each coming in under budget.
