Time was of the essence – we needed to complete the first project between ski seasons with a phased delivery schedule which the owner requested in order to be ready for the following ski season. So our teams worked diligently to create and implement a strategic plan to keep on a tight schedule while maintaining the highest levels of cost control, quality, safety and coordination of work among the trades on site.
The project began with complete demolition of the existing base lodge and hotel commencing the week after ski season. Once the building was removed, site work and foundations began for the hotel and base lodge along with the stand-alone ski rental building was started. Construction was sequenced for a just in time turn over to the owner.
At the peak of construction, Ondra-Huyett’s on-site team managed, coordinated and oversaw the work and safety of over 200 craft-workers daily. Daily scheduling and coordination meetings with all trades was extremely important to the success of the project.
Long days and weekends proved to be instrumental to turning over the project as contracted. Ski Rental the beginning of October, the Base Lodge the beginning of December and the Hotel the end of December.
Ondra-Huyett exceeded every goal established for the project delivering on-time and at budget.
