When XAND needed to expand their data center space XAND turned to Ondra-Huyett in January of 2013 for the renovation and construction of a new 7,700 square foot data center and a new 9,000 sq. ft. “ground up” generator and electrical distribution building at their Valley Forge location. The project had a committed completion date of September 15, 2013.
The project consisted of converting an obsolete mechanical space in the building’s penthouse into 6,000 sq. ft. of raised access floor, new room finishes, new roof top cooling units, FM fire suppression system, lighting along with transformers, distribution panels and busway.
The new electrical building provided space for a dual 5000 amp GE switchgear line up, two Liebert 1100 KW UPS lineups, two battery rooms and two 2 megawatt Cummins diesel generators. OHA also installed a new 30,000 gallon fuel oil tank along with the associated piping, day tanks and fuel scrubbers. The building is fed by a new 33,000 volt service with two substation transformers. It was also constructed with future expansion in mind, conduits were run under the slab for additional electrical distribution and UPS lineups as well space for two more 2 megawatt generators.
The project was completed with all testing and commissioning in nine months and at budget.

In January 2013, XAND partnered with OHA to construct a 7,700 square foot data center with a 9,000 square foot electrical infrastructure building at our Valley Forge site. In less than 11 months, the data center was commissioned and our first client deployed. Most importantly, the project was completed within the approved budget and on schedule.
