We were contracted to renovate the second floor of the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Long Term Care facility in Bethlehem. The project required renovation to 31 rooms with individual handicap accessible bathrooms, a nurses’ station, dining area, support facilities and most importantly, the understanding that patient health, safety and comfort were paramount.

Infection Control Risk Assessment containment partitions and air filtering equipment were installed to effectively isolate work areas and prevent dust and dirt from contaminating the rehabilitation facility while temporary residence quarters were staged in a large dining room, allowing patients to be relocated two rooms at a time.  Over an eight-day period, our teams renovated the two rooms and adjoining bath, including new ceramic floors in the shower, ceilings, privacy curtains, fixtures and paint. At the end of the eight-day renovation, the rooms were cleaned and sterilized and the residents returned to their improved environment.

The age of the building created a number of issues including the discovery of deteriorated wall framing.  But swift, smart action by the owner and our teams allowed for a successful response to every unforeseen encounter and the smooth completion of a complicated project.

Testimonial

“OHA embarked on one of the most challenging renovations ever undertaken at Good Shepherd and ended with some of the most impressive results. Due to the size and configuration of the floor, OHA had to orchestrate a project including 31 rooms with 60 residents, two at a time. The OHA team stepped up to the plate during each phase, with great organization and dedication, and residents always around to make sure a job no less than perfect was done. In the end, staff, residents, visitors and family members were nothing but impressed with the final result. One of the residents even called the administrator in tears of happiness over her new home. It really emphasized how important this project was to those who call Good Shepherd home.”
