St. Luke’s Cardiology Center is the heart of vascular care for patients in the region, housing a dozen exam rooms, doctor’s offices, nine treatment and two nuclear camera rooms, as well as space for nursing and support staff.  Our teams managed this important construction project with great care, while building on a sloped site… and an extremely aggressive schedule.

The three-story, 33,000 square foot medical office building required an extensive foundation and retaining walls to fit the slope of the Bethlehem site.  Steel erection began mid-December and was completed less than a month later.  Tarps enclosed the building to create enough heat to pour decks while panelized exterior wall sections were concurrently built.  Once these panels and roof were in place, providing a weather-tight enclosure, tradesmen worked side-by-side to meet the five-month construction deadline.

LEED certification was not requested.  But, the energy-efficient, high-performance building is environmentally friendly, having been constructed on a Brownfield site, and complete with low VOC carpet, paint, a paver designation in the parking lots serving as a groundwater recharge system, “green roof” with plant trays and a daylight harvesting system.
